Letter explaining his office was wrecked in an air raid (May 1941)

11.5.41

My dearest Mother,

You will have read about the severe raid we had last night and no doubt be wondering about us. We were in a shelter nearby. The flat escaped and there was no serious damage in the immediate vicinity. My office, however, was wrecked. I believe there has been a lot of fresh damage but I have had the day off and have not been to see it.

There is not much other news.

I hope to hear from you soon. The boys seem to be settling down at school.

Marjorie sends her love,

Your own son

Harold
