Letter re: forthcoming trip to USA/Canada (August 1938)

8.8.38

My dearest Mother,

I am afraid that I haven’t much news for you. The weather here continues hot on the whole, though we had a day of rain on Sunday, and more this morning. I hope all the good weather will not have been used up by the time we go away.

I am going to America and Canada about the middle of September & shall be away about a month. I should have liked to take M. but am afraid that I cannot manage it, as it is an expensive business. I hope to go to Ottawa, New York, Washington and across to Los Angeles.

I haven’t heard from Duncan for a long time. What news of him is there?

With much love from us all,

Your own son

Harold
